Why Go Green For My Body?

There are lots of reasons to "go green" with your health and beauty products. The top ones are obviously to protect the environment, lessen your footprint on the world, protect animals from harmful testing, etc. That doesn't strike a cord with you? How about for these reasons:

The average woman ingests 6 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime.

Gross. When I roll out that tube of oily, creamy pink color, I'm not thinking "yum". My sparkly lipgloss is probably not very nutritious. If you're going to be eating lipstick - and if you're wearing it, you are - don't you want it to be all-natural?

Up to 60% of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your body.

How do butylated hydroxyanisole, phthalates, and nitrosamines sound? Like they should be circulating your cells? I think not. If it's going to be in my body, I'd prefer it be created in nature, not a nuclear plant.

Prolonged exposure to toxins, even in small amounts, can increase risks of cancer and pre-mature aging.

How many days have you put makeup on your face, lotion or sunscreen on your body, shampoo in your hair...lets see, 365 days per year sound about right? For how many years now?

Due to gaping loopholes in federal law, companies can put virtually any ingredient into personal care products. Even worse, the government does not require pre-market safety tests for any of them.

So nobody is watching out for us - it's up to you. Check out the safety level of your beauty products.
